Thankful For The Sleeping Giant
It's nice to say in theory.
I'm thankful.
But are we really? Or do we have a tendency to go through the motions out of traditionalism? This year, I'm going through my memories and thoughts, and I'm not going to say I'm thankful for family, and food, and fellowship. I mean, those are all nice things, but.... There is something deeper.
I'm thankful that God is sovereign. Do you understand the word sovereign?

1. One that exercises supreme, permanent authority, especially in a nation or other governmental unit, as:
a. A king, queen, or other noble person who serves as chief of state; a ruler or monarch.
b. A national governing council or committee.
2. A nation that governs territory outside its borders.

This means, one who is sovereign can do whatever they please because of their power. God, being the deity, is Sovereign beyond even America during it's peak in the mid 1900's. If Japan referred to bombing America as "waking the sleeping giant", then what happens when the enemy pisses God off? He is THE sleeping Giant, only, he's not sleeping, he's just holding back...
I'm thankful both that he is holding back, and I am thankful also that he eventually won't continue to do so and will smoke the devil like a cheap cigar. The little jerk has it coming.
I'm thankful that while money is tight down here, I am personally backed by the biggest bank in the known universe. We all invest in Gold down here because of it's value, but Him? He paves the streets with it! It's obviously not His most valuable element.
Finally, I thankful that while Politicians are corrupt, lying, Marxist, evil people, God isn't and is using them and not the other way around.
Now, that is a Thankful thanksgiving!
